Yadav said the decision concerning Akash Anand belonged to his party and that leaders from other political parties could not comment on it. He said, “If you bring Akash Anand, we will take him. It is their wish to bring him, we will take him then.”
Yadav further said that such language could be used by a saint. He added that anyone wanting to see the language of a saint should look at ANI.
The remarks came after Bahujan Samaj Party national president Mayawati expelled her nephew Akash Anand from the party. Mayawati said Akash Anand had been completely freed from the BSP. The decision came amid an ongoing dispute within the party ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2027.
Mayawati announced the action against Akash Anand on the social media platform X. Questioning his political thinking and loyalty, she said he was more concerned about personal relationships, family ties and attachment to his family than the real interests of the party and the Bahujan movement. Mayawati described Akash Anand as someone working with a “double mind.”
Akash Anand’s father-in-law and former Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Siddharth also emerged in the controversy. Mayawati had asked Ashok Siddharth to retire from politics while considering Akash Anand’s political future. Ashok Siddharth announced his retirement on Thursday morning, but Mayawati described the move as a step taken late.
Amid the action against Akash Anand, Mayawati assigned a major responsibility to his younger brother, Eshan Anand. He was appointed chief sector coordinator for North India. Eshan Anand also reposted Mayawati’s post.
The expulsion of Akash Anand and the appointment of Eshan Anand to a new responsibility have intensified discussion within the BSP over succession and leadership. The development is being seen as a major change within the party ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
